Biostatistics Core Main Page
Biostatistical support services are provided over the lifecycle of a research project: when investigators are developing study designs for external funding proposals, when projects are submitted to the GCRC Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) for review and approval, when data is being analyzed and interpreted and when abstracts, presentations and publications are being prepared.
The biostatistical core has available statistical software applications such as SPSS, SigmaPlot and MAPLE, and provides one-to-one consultations on appropriate use of statistical methods and tools for power analysis, randomization and time series analyses. A contract arrangement also makes available genetics biostatistical expertise through an external consultant organization.
Operationally and administratively, the GCRC Biostatistics core is integrated with the UCHC Center for Biostatistics. This allows the GCRC to fund one biostatistical resource but have available the investigators a broad array of expertise. For further information about available services or to arrange a consultation, please contact the Director of the Center and GCRC Biostatistician, Stephen Walsh, ScD. |
