Research Coordinators Course
The Research Coordinators Course, originally offered in 2002 as the Research Nursing Orientation Course, is designed to promote a conceptual awareness that distinguishes research practice from clinical practice. The course reviews the research process, with an emphasis on the many facets of coordination that are necessary for safe and effective clinical research. Topics covered include the recruitment of volunteers for studies; compliance with regulatory and ethical standards; evaluation by the Institutional Review Board, the organization that oversees the conduct of research involving human subjects; industry-sponsored studies; the drug development process; fiscal compliance and a host of other issues related to successful, ethical and productive management of research projects at the Center.
